Living with Long covid

This podcast aims to raise awareness of long covid, provide a platform of support, education and the lived experience. My name is Julie, I am a registered nurse in the UK. I became unwell with Covid in May 2020 while working on the front line, during the first wave of the pandemic. Subsequently I live with long covid and POTS ( postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome). I would like to share my journey and lived experience, the symptoms and how each impacts daily life. I aim to not only consider the physical issues but also the impact this has had mentally and emotionally. It is reported over 2 million people in the UK and an estimated 65 million worldwide, live with long covid. This is huge, and affects every area of a persons life, their family, friendships and work life. Join me and some great guests and let’s Learn, advocate and continue this journey together.

    Farce
This entire podcast is a farce. “Long Covid” just means; “little brain”.

Helpful and Validating Podcast for LongHaulers
I first encountered Julie’s podcast when I had the initial thought to chronicle my own journey with Long Covid via a podcast. At the time, the only podcasts I found were from a medical perspective, which although informative, did little to provide an understanding of navigating everyday life with this diagnosis. Living With Long Covid was just that - a podcast about the lived experience of being a Long Hauler, the struggles we face, the lack of understanding and validation from the medical community, and even the moment-to-moment emotions triggered by our condition. I found her to be soft spoken but informed, relatable, and validating. I get something out of every single episode, be it practical advice (the Four P’s) or just a reassurance that I am not alone in the physical, mental, and emotional toll that Long Covid has taken on me. Whether or not you suffer from Long Covid, chances are high that you know someone who does, and also that there is a 10-30% chance of developing it yourself the next time you contract Covid. Thank you, Julie, for being so open and vulnerable with us, and in doing so, raising awareness of this life-changing condition.
