Problem with the fibers on the knife “used to cut the screen” was possibly transferred by the finger print brush used to dust the window frames & the entire block of knives. This is proven in court transcripts & testimony, in a documentary called The Last Defense… many other issues y’all have questioned are also answered in court transcripts so I suggest listening or reading those. Takes a long time but a lot of info is in them that are causing confusion. It’s gotta be full transcripts tho even the bail bond hearing has a lot of info not mentioned much anywhere else

I have recently found you via Stephanie appearing on Mile Higher. Kendal Rae is my original podcast into true crime! I am officially a junkie!! Your layout/format is amazing! Stephanie has some major story telling skills! It is obvious that she does her research! Derrick (double checked the spelling since I heard you call out people not spelling your name correctly! I mean it is in the podcast🤣. I am addicted to the series that you cover. A year and a half ago, I woke up blind. With five surgeries, I have limited vision. Finding verbal entertainment was a blessing! I truly hope to meet both of you sometime! Keep up the amazing work!

I haven’t stopped listening since. I follow both of your solo work as well. I look forward every single week for both episodes and I just hope you never stop. It feels like I’ve known you guys personally all this time. You’re my brother and sister at this point. Thank you for what you do.

Derrick talks about himself all of the time. Constantly refers to himself and everything he knows. It’s distracting. Stephanie does a great job.

Crime Weekly is the first podcast I have listened to all the way through! I can’t turn it off!! You both are amazing!

Here’s what I think about this latest episode. I finally remembered when this happened bc I remember the silly string incident and I thought how could you do that after your babies were murdered. I just couldn’t get over it. That video was everywhere!! And if they did it then I believe it was together. To me I believe it was both of them or the dad was the one. Tried to kill the kids quickly and quietly and then take care of Darlie. And she woke up. But fr I think they both did it. The other guy she said that would want her dead I thought maybe he took her kids away bc his were taken away from him 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I’m guessing the parents both did this

I see a lot of critics regarding Stephanie & most are so surface level. When you’ve been podcasting for as long as SH & it is you doing all the reading, researching, & deep-diving…not just a paid researcher pre-writing a script for a flowery voice to deliver to us, then obviously opinions will be strong because you know the ins & out/forward & backward. I appreciate CW not being so pc & things being said how they’re meant. This duo is one of my faves! Easily 5⭐️

You all do THE BEST job of covering this trial. Breaking it down, explaining the charges and the relationships. So glad to hear this view of the trial.

I listen to a lot of true crime shows and this is one of the worst. I tried 3 different episodes and didn’t make more than 10 minutes though any. Stephanie is a true narcissist who takes every fact and detail about the victim and somehow turns it into something about herself, her life, her opinion. Me me me!! No thanks.

I listen to a lot of true crime, this is one of my new favorites. I like the insights of each host, production quality is good, they don’t focus on the most gruesome factors of the crime. Small Town Dicks has been my favorite but I’m in a dry spell there, so this has been filling in and I really like it. Thanks guys!! P.S. I admittedly listen to far too much true crime, and I can honestly say that this is my absolute favorite podcast. It’s probably a bit weird how much I look forward to Fridays because a new episode will be released, but the wait is always worth it! Even if there is a case that I think I know everything about, somehow Stephanie manages to find new information and the way the story is told is entirely engaging. Couldn’t love it more!

I’m with you guys and often ask ‘where is the common sense?!’ when he was being sentenced? My mom has always said, ‘if they’ll lie to you, they’ll steal from you, and if they’ll steal from you, they’ll kill you.’ With that many crimes in his record, how could they not see the potential for him to seriously hurt or murder a law abiding citizen? It’s so sad.

I listen to this podcast before work. It has been a part of my morning that I just look forward to before teaching. Stephanie and Derrick are so awesome and there really is no other podcast I’ve found that paints such a picture for the audience. The story telling is top notch as is their humor and banter. Please never stop recording podcasts!!! It’s unlike any other.

Love this podcast! I do listen to a lot of true crime and I just started listening to Crime Weekly a few months ago. I have listened to a ton of episodes over the past few months and I appreciate the deep dive into cases! I love the banter and overall fun interaction at times that they have! The cases can be heavy but they make light of things at the right time. Keep up the great work Stephanie and Derrick! :)

First I'd heard of Iowa 4 texts and 911. Could have been intriguing and informative. They went on, with their insipid droning opinions, for almost TEN MINUTES just about the dispatch situation! The guy can't help but constantly interject how he did that job once, he's a dad (ok...), he's been in one similar position or another, &, all, again, his opinion. Just speaking to hear his own voice, while adding zero value to the story. Someone please give him attn at home! He hurt my ears.

Derrick your comment about the border was low

Having had to call 911 more than once for my husband the more compassionate the 911 operator was the calmer I was getting through the crisis. This woman had NO compassion at all and as Stephanie commented sounded like a robot. It actually made me extremely frustrated listening to her.

I’m always invested in the deep dive and conversation you get from this podcast!! This one on JCs mysterious murder has me really puzzled. He seems like a guy with a lot of enemies, maybe one hired people to kill him and part of that payment was “ And you can rob his nephew next door, they’re drug dealers and have cash in the house all the time” wouldn’t be the first time promise of things to rob is used as partial payment in a hit.

I wonder who else in the grocery store has murder-death-kills in their ears while they pick out apples? I found this pod a couple of years ago after listening to Serial and getting wrapped up in the Hae Min Lee case. Then I followed them into the Summer Wells case… my lands! I was hooked. The depth they go into, multiple episodes, ALL the content is perfect for my long rides, runs, grocery trips, house chores…. Uhhh everything. A little addicted.

They have a lot of undertones of xenophobia, especially when it comes to Mexico, very obvious when it comes to Stephanie's mouth, and derricks silence speaks volumes

Negative reviewers simply don’t like hearing a strong woman talk 🙄 Both Stephanie and Derrick are sensitive to all sides of the conversation. If you just want to hear the story of the crime, this podcast isn’t for you. If you want to take a deeper dive of all evidence and theories of a crime, this is a great one! This is my favorite true crime podcast! Crime Weekly would not be Crime Weekly without Stephanie AND Derrick. (Sorry Derrick, YOU’RE WRONG!) Furthermore, these reviews that are negative towards one or the other are missing the point. Their professional and personal differences add depth and character to the show. Personally, I enjoy when Derrick “mansplains” techniques for collecting evidence or how investigations work. This POV from the investigator is eye opening. Often times I am agreeing with Stephanie then Derrick explains how that’s actually possible or why an investigator did this or that and it changes my theory. If they agreed on every aspect of the crime, it would be just any other true crime podcast. This isn’t a retelling of the crime; allow for some personality to show. Stephanie gets a little opinionated but she is the voice in our head; the POV of an average person listening to the episode. We don’t like Casey or Jose (any many more). I truly enjoy their bickering back and forth, Criminal Coffee chat, and “nothing burgers”. Keep up the great work!
