    Ask better questions
Listened to the pod cast with Harmen Hoek. Asking whether they had polar bears in the Netherlands? Embarrassing.

    Fake Ranger
    Hahahaha - ā€œI don’t think he’s a REAL FAKE Rangerā€. Congratulations on your 200th episode!!

    A must listen for backpackers
I’ve been listening to this podcast for a long time. I’m still excited when a new show comes out. I enjoy backpacking as well as comedy and this is a good balance of both. They have great guests on from the industry. I highly recommend it.

Like hanging with your hiking pals on trail while walking dog or running errands.
It’s a great mix of comedy with useful discussion about what’s helpful on the trail. Carl and Ben (and occasionally Derek) provide great doses of insights as well as humor along the way. It’s challenged me to think about choices that I make on the trail and consider new adventures I might take in the future. Thanks so much!

    Worth listening to!
A pleasant blend of education and entertainment

    Good listen!
This is my first time leaving a Apple review I believe, but my second time saying hello šŸ‘‹šŸ¾ thanks for the show guys! I hope Derrick is well and hopefully I can enter to win the tent!

    Funny and outdoor focused
Carl and his different co-hosts always make me laugh. Listen in the background while working and it helps to pass the day. They sometimes have good backpacking information as well. Their use of satire and humor is what makes the show great.

Always enjoyable and delivers plenty of laughs
Carl does a fantastic job leading this podcast, whether it’s creating topics or finding guests, he delivers great content week after week. I miss having Derek along side him but my condolences to him as he deals with his family at this time. Ben has stepped into his role to bust Carl’s chops to the best of his ability. Thanks for inspiring people to be outside and explore the outdoors!

Unfortunately Carl’s brand of humor is a little mean
I love hearing hiking and gear stories. But I found Carl’s constant attempts to poke fun at his cohost to be belittling, immature, and cringy. It was honestly hard to stomach how funny he thought he was being when really he’s just finding any reason to nitpick and put his cohost down. Super off-putting.

    Great entertainment
I often disagree with what they are saying, but I 100% LOVE the entertainment value and their ratings do make me evaluate my own backpacking habits. Loved it before I had a clue…and even more now that I’m more experienced. Good food for thought.

Great for beginner backpackers and on
I’m new to backpacking, and this podcast was a great resource as I prepared for my first trip. They invite a wide variety of guests, cover tons of topics, and help me feel more confident in getting out on the trails! I really appreciate the work they do!

Bro-ing out with Backpacking & Blisters
I love listening to these guys have a good ol time on their podcast. It reminds me of the brotherhood that I experience on trail with my friends and family. It is a very entertaining amalgamation of gear, stories, comedy, and anything else outdoor related.

    Great Show
Great mix of fun banter and good information. I love the storytelling and family friendly nature of the show. The best part is how they will connect with you and create a community atmosphere off air.

    Decent job
Not bad at all, keep it up Derek and Carl. Good amount of fun and guests mixed in with a bit of advice.

Great backpacking podcast for seasoned packers and those getting started!
Derek and Carl enjoy poking fun at each other but can get serious when it comes to gear reviews or answering questions listeners have. If you’ve thought about getting on the trail but have been dragging your feet, listen to the Backpacking & Blisters podcast and get inspired!

    Good, CLEAN, conversation!
I grew up backpacking and am now just getting back into it. I wanted to find some information about what is new in the world of backpacking and hiking in general. I searched for podcasts that would be both enjoyable to listed to as well as give me the info I was looking for. I started an episode of this podcast and right out of the gate I enjoyed it. But what really made this my style was the reading of God’s truth! The scripture reading may be small, but I appreciate that it finds its way into a great, informative podcast with people that know what they are talking about. Keep up the good work! May the Lord bless you in your endeavors, keep you safe, and receive all of the glory from the platform he has provided to you. ā€œAnd whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.ā€ ‭‭Colossians‬ ‭3‬:‭17‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Wanna be backpackers love it too!
I've only been on one backpacking trip, but I loved it. I haven't had the motivation to plan another since, but I love your podcast because it's entertaining and gives me great information for when I'm finally ready to get back out on the trail. It's keeping my dream of hiking some of the great trails alive. Thanks!

    Entertaining
Loving all the side trail talk(guest host). Derick and Carl mesh well. Can tell there good friends.

    Backpacking Fun!
I’ve listened to the B&B podcast since the beginning. The banter between Derek & Carl is what makes Backpacking & Blisters special. I love that they start each episode with a spiritual thought that is applied to backpacking. While my opinions about backpacking are often different than theirs, they’ve made me question & refine those opinions, especially in regards to Nalgenes & tent footprints. If you like backpacking, you’ll love the Backpacking and Blisters podcast.

    Wonderfully wonderful
I’m more of a camper than backpacker. I get to pretend I’m backpacking without having to actually backpack by listening along to this podcast. I wish it was longer, 2-3 hours. Is that too much to ask? The bantering back and forth is phenomenal. This is a podcast where yo feel like you’re there. As a podcast host who is a well known and documented guest interrupterer, embrace the gift you have good sire. Y’all keep crushing it!

    More Rocky
Just catching up on some episodes on a long flight back to NC from Curacao. Caught The Rocky! He’s really good! Adds some real class to the show. Love you …. In a bro way Jd from NC

    Newish listener
I got into hiking in 2020, and backpacking in 2022. I suppose we could call them gifts of the lockdown šŸ˜‚. I was thankful to find a podcast that checked so many of my boxes. Similarly aged (yep, a middle-aged guy here), unbiased reviews of gear (I love the way you’re not afraid to ask tough questions from gear providers!), and the Bible verse of the episode is a nice touch (I’m a pastor). Keep up the good work, guys. And if you ever make it out to Michigan for some backpacking let me know! Isle Royale, Pictured Rocks, are great spots. Mike McCrumb.

Some of the sponsors are dodgy, otherwise likable and relatable pair
I’ve listened for a while but some of the sponsors at the top of the show that they advertise either dont have active websites or sound like they might not exist. Some of those products sounds really useful too!!

Always a Male point of view
Good info if you're a dude. It would be nice to get various point of views from hikers who aren't the typical white male hiker. Perhaps a woman's POV or someone who isn't the typical white male hiker.

    Pretty Good
I have binged this podcast since the first episode, and now I’ve caught up. I like this podcast, and I’ll keep listening. I am firmly on ā€œTeam Derekā€. Derek is the one keeping me coming back. However, Carl keeps this from anymore than three stars. Carl is a control freak, he has to be in control of everything and everyone. Seriously man, you need to relax. I can’t imagine how your students tolerate you as your teacher. Is your motto ā€œDon’t hike your own hike, you must hike MY hike.ā€??? And what’s with your obsession about your idea of being ā€œfitā€ for the trail? Are you fat-shaming everyone? Anyways Derek, keep attempting to keep Carl in check. I’ll keep listening.

    Obsessed with their mission
As someone who cares about overall health, I really love what this company stands for. I enjoy listening to the podcast because I secretly want to be more outdoorsy, and it helps me feel connected to nature. I really like the topics and information they talk about on the podcast. 2 thumbs up!
  • Krf67
    Enjoyable, good info
I stumbled across this recently, new to backpacking and hiking and trying to educate myself some, I find the information to be accessible and not overwhelming, good conversations and interviews, seem to give good non-biased advice

    Fun talk
Good general information, easy to listen too. But just a suggestion on the 8 mistakes podcasts and first aid kits, no need for hydrogen peroxide! Soap and water is best for cleaning wounds 😊

    Fave backpacking pod!
By far my favorite podcast. Carl and Derek are so fun, I love how they share their faith, and the guests are amazing! I didn’t think they could top the episode with Shug (would’ve loved if that conversation could have gone deeper, but I understand the time limitations)…then Darwin came on. That episode was so great and so thought-provoking. Y’all keep on doing your thing, because it is GOOD!
  • Liz loves Jesus
    Encouraging, funny, and helpful
I love this podcast. I appreciate that they talk about real life challenges on the trail with a sense of humor. Carl and Derek find joy in God’s creation and deep Christian friendship in a refreshing way.

    God, backpacking, banter, reviews
If your looking for a fun backpacking podcast with a couple great hosts this is the one for you. Ive been listening to the podcast for a couple years now and always looking forward to the next episode. While it may not be for everyone I really appreciate that God is brought into every episode in one way or another, however it is not preachy and believes and non believers alike can still enjoy. I enjoy the friendly banter and find myself laughing out loud often. I’ve also finally stopped being a podcast moocher and joined the Patreon. My only thing I would like to see more of is longer length trip episodes from the trip planning, prepping, travel to the trail head, trail day by day, and the after. As someone who had a young growing family and a busy career I find it hard to get out on the trail and I sometimes have to live through the experience of others trips. Keep up the good work I’ll be looking forward to the next one!

    Great Podcast
I’m a bit of a newbie to the backpacking world and I have thoroughly enjoyed this podcast. I always learn something and get some good laughs along the way. I really appreciate the Bible verses and you guys being upfront and bold about your faith. Keep up the great work and God bless!
  • J. Askins
Great Information, Guests, & Sarcasm! Why else could you ask for??
Listen, laugh, & learn along with this podcast each week. Enjoy the guests and the laughs as I try and relate my experiences as a newbie backpacker with the pros. Always entertaining!!
  • Betruto22
Listen to these guys for some backpacking entertainment
If you’re searching for some clean Christian backpacking conversation look no further. Derek and Carl are two dudes who know there backpacking stuff, but also don’t take themselves too seriously. You’ll walk away with some sort of knowledge, especially if Derek is directing the trivia šŸ¤“, to make your backpacking adventures that much better! Give them a listen and I guarantee you’ll be entertained with some laughter and fun along the way. Keep up the good work gentlemen!

Podcast 157 Witch Device To Use ($50,000 Question)
I may sign up soon. Your information and humor is amazing and very genuine. You stay focused on every sentence being digestible for hikers. Can you please let me and others know why the $50,000 approximate (Helicopter Rescue from Remote Parks) to $750,000 (Himalaya Helicopter Rescue From Everest Basecamp) was not addressed? I use the newest Garmin Mini which offers 100% free rescue Insurance. Yes….the Garmin uses 1980 software and could not be much worse. The Garmin insurance alone is the entire value regardless of software clunkiness. I travel constantly and hike every state and unless your in a steep walled canyon it always works.

    B&B Knights Tale
Carl: ā€œYou have been weighed. You have been measured. And you have been found wanting.ā€ Derek: ā€œIt’s called a lance. Hellooo!ā€ Level this podcast. So fun and funny. Lots of good content and wonderful banter!

How is this podcast not viral; it’s awesome!?!
Derek and Carl, I first want to say thank you for what y’all are doing in this podcast! I seemingly stumbled across this podcast, and as soon as I heard y’all share the Bible verse for the episode, I immediately knew I was a new listener, and was relieved that I finally found exactly what I was looking for! I tried searching for Christian specific Backpacking podcasts, because I’m very intentional about what I allow into my mind, and was disappointed to not find any; then, I somehow found one of yawl’s episodes. I am grateful that y’all are stewarding your platform in such a way, and praying that God blesses y’all for your faithfulness! The Bible portion of your episodes are enough to plant seeds into your listeners hearts and at the same time not overwhelm those that aren’t quite ready to receive yet, this way they stick around and continue to get fed little by little. The sense of humor is unmatched, and I’m always refreshed encountering those with my similar wit. Thank you for a podcast that provokes engagement via humor, plants Biblical seeds, and gives some practical backpacking related content; keep up the great work! Blessings, Brooke Jolly

    Highlight of my week
I look forward to this podcast every week. Love the banter, I love the stories and gear reviews. It feels fun and informative and the hosts and guests have a great vibe.

    Love it
Love the sarcasm but the thing I love the most…I listen to several different backpacking podcast and backpack with my son (12). He likes to listen to the different podcasts to and from our adventures. On our way back today from a five day 32 mile trip in Cheaha, he commented on how he enjoyed you guys over the rest. Why, because you start your podcast sharing scripture, you don’t cuss, and your funny. He is currently watching your YouTube channel. Thank you for being true to yourselves. You put yourselves out there as Christians and you don’t apologize (Prov 10:12). There are several people who comment that they don’t like the scriptures you quote, your response has always been kind and with love (John 4:19), you practice what you preach. Thank you for the great example you set and for the informative content! Your Brother in Christ, Charles

    Juneteenth episode
    1. Black bear maulings and deaths occur every year, bear spray is not a bad idea. Not ignant 2. Leave no trace states burn nothing with an odor ever. They also say pack out your toilet paper, they do not want you to bury it. Y’all need to do more research

    Chili Mac with beef
Super entertaining podcast. B&B talks about backpacking problems from about an intermediate backpacker range, which is where I think most people are at. So you’re likely to hear them talk about problems that you’ve either faced, or will likely face down the road. They are open to suggestions and ideas. I look forward to seeing where it grows from here! They also have some really cool videos on YouTube that go well with adventures.
