Smart and hilarious. My favorite thing to listen to each week. I’ve listened so long that it feels like Jon & David are old friends.

One of the only podcasts where I look forward to a new episode every single week. Ostensibly a political show, but it truly succeeds in how Jon and David balance discussing current events with broader curiosity, joy, and their individual peculiarities. They are two unique personalities that play off of each other so well.

The evolution of EPM has been a delight. I enthusiastically look forward to listening to these two old buds talk about the most esoteric, niche topics every Tuesday/Wednesday. Sure they talk politics a bit, and maybe even dash of political betting sometimes, but you want field recordings of birds, bugs, and frogs? What about in depth discussions of skylines and guitar pedals where neither host cares about the other respective topic? You wanna know the best theater to go to in Chapel Hill, NC? Or who the Bad Boi of the Week is? Well, then these silly billies have got a podcast for you! 5 outta 5 stars. No notes.

As a member of the class of 2016, I will always be grateful that John and David brought this podcast back. A vital part of my survival plan for the next four years. Hail Satan.

The only and best politics podcast out there. Why? Because on what other politics podcast do you get talks of fish weirs, skylines, bird recordings, guitar pedals, college sports, lay lines, and explicit descriptions of Mark Robinson’s sexcapades? EPM is second to none.

In a sea of infotainment podcasts, Election Profit Makers sets itself apart in embracing the absurd. This isn’t just a charming affectation (although the tangents and explorations of the co-hosts are certainly charming) but an important contribution to the public discourse. In a time of rampant nihilism, EPM grapples with the absurdity of existence in modern America through friendly banter, unflinching analysis, and niche enthusiasms. You don’t need to be into politics or gambling to find this show hilarious and fun! You can just be a normal person who loves skylines, circuit bending, and writing for TV shows.

David has a unique energy and could make a discussion of nearly anything engrossing. He has a great rapport with John, who grounds him. I look forward to new episodes each week.

Get your election projection/current event with a healthy dose of skylines, mix tapes, and musings on the state of current events. Soothe your weary heart with the banter of David, (Starlee) and Jon as they navigate reemergence from quarantine, from L.A. to NC. Update: Episode 86: Are We Ready to Go Back is like a grandmother’s hug. Perfection.

I found this show after hearing it recommended as a politics and guitar pedal podcast. It’s more than that, and it’s better than that.

The purpose of the modern podcast is the gift of John and David; the discourse, the info, the friendship, the personalities, the challenges, the wordplay, the support, the heart, it’s all there and we are better for it.

This is the only podcast I’ve ever reviewed. It’s the only podcast I listen to every week. I love it. They are the absolute best. I can only describe it as being a voyeur into a healthy life long friendship. We should all be so lucky.

This podcast was an entertaining and cathartic companion during the 2016 and 2020 elections. Topics are … wide-ranging. Way beyond politics. But that works so well here because the hosts are interesting and funny. Don’t biff this. Subscribe.

This show is the only way to catch up on political news and stay sane.

I look forward to this podcast more than any. The rapport of the hosts is delightful. You get to listen in on two friends who are genuinely interesting and interested in eclectic subjects explore and discuss matters organically, without phoney surprise and overly planned episodes.

What you must understand is this is the world’s greatest podcast about winning money by wagering on elections.

My favorite podcast by far, but maybe it’s just me: I like hilarious banter, eclectic and offbeat topics, and razor-sharp satire of our current political landscape. Can’t recommend Kid Midas & Long Jon Silver enough!

Long time fan of David Rees’ work, going back to the GYWO comic strip. Actually caught the stage act in DC way back when too - brilliant! Review edit (Jan 2023): this show has never been about elections, profits or betting. I’m not sure what it’s about. It’s my favorite podcast. If you need updates on URL shortening services, or election profiteering, this is the place. There is no other.

This show is like a weekly refuge, an oasis for my mental health. It’s one of the only ways I can digest electoral politics anymore, and the contrast between John and David’s passions — and the funny tensions that come up over this — keep me invested in things I’m only distantly connected with, like pedal mods and fishing weirs or skylines and the number nine. (Fun aside: my brother and I are both from Virginia, but I moved north and my brother moved to CH. Learning about the area from this podcast has actually brought us closer, esp. w his attachments to UNC sports, something WAY outside my wheelhouse.) Good banter, hot takes… there will be lots to talk about in the future but HEY YOUSE GUYS at least keep the Bad Boys of the Week segment going. I would listen weekly for that segment alone. I think it’s been a while.

In 2021 there was a month where I drove the length of Indiana 6 times for a gig. Those long miserable drives through cornfields are what led me, in April 2021, to start listening to EPM from the very beginning (Spring 2016). A year into COVID, only a few months after the Jan 6th insurrection, I wanted to dive as far from the current moment in politics as I could. The EPM back catalogue was an escape, if only back to the first chapters of the horror novel we’ve all been rough drafting together. John, David, and (formerly) Starley bring an angle and levity to the small batch political talk show format. After catching up and becoming a regular weekly listener, I am always excited to see a new episode drop. I have never been on Predict It or considered that piece of the show critical. In a world with Pedal Corners and Carolina Sport and whatever the next Geoguesser-style craze is, the content will be there with or without the marketplace. John said no one leaves reviews anymore, so I figured I was safe to drop a novel in here. TL;DR Funny show, listen to all of it.

I am holding out for episode 444, which I expect will be recoded live aboard racing sailboats.

Please no more crypto talk. It’s just so boring. And there are so many other podcasts by white guys who love hearing themselves talk about crypto. I like EPM best when you’re talking about fish weirs and guitar pedals, not going all normcore.
