Edit - Rating changed from 5 down to 2 as there is ever increasing, woke banging on about how racist, sexist, classist, all the -ist and -phobic words, newspaper articles from 200 years ago were. Yes, we know, times were different then. Mentioning it so often has really taken away my enjoyment of the content this podcast used to just present without that commentary. Shame it’s gone that way, it was actually my number one favourite podcast of all. So good to find a podcast about interesting creepy sort of stuff that isn’t hosted by goofy wanna be comedians!!

Love this podcast. It’s soo interesting. Most podcasts make me feel bored and about half way through I’m thinking to myselfz’ these people are talking about nothing at allz’ and I’ll turn it off. But not this one. I’ll listen to all of it then start again. Awesome

It's well worth the wait!

This podcast is a an amazing joy to listen. It is so well researched and narrated. Alyson is a wonderful story teller and she has a way to wrap you in the story that is just perfect. You might come here for the spooky but will leave with much, much more.

This is not simply a true crime podcast. It has a very sophisticated consideration of literary signifiers and social mores. It is very well written and beautifully told. Definitely worth a listen.

....yet super easy listening

I’m so glad I stumbled upon this podcast. There is the perfect balance of storytelling flair and history. The narrators voice is soothing and easy to listen to, she has great pacing. I also enjoy the music and sound effects. Often sound effects can be off putting and cheesy but they really work in this podcast. Great work!

This charming podcast is a mix of folklore, urban legends and fictional tales placed within the historical context that helped develop them. Although some of the material is well trodden ground, there is enough here to engage the mind with some interesting new twists on the tales of old. Narrator has a very pleasant voice and the audio quality/production is high.

Folklore, mystery, murder and lots more. The atmosphere is great - just enough 'eerie' to build suspense. The delivery is well scripted but doesn't sound robotic.
