    Outstanding “There will be bananas”
Just caught your story “There will be bananas” on the Washington Post pod. Thank you for researching and sharing with us the little-known facts of how the humble banana came to be a North American staple - and on the sacrifices of the workers who made and make it happen.

    Union episode
This episode was informative and deeply relevant now. Understanding the issues from a historical perspective was key - loved it - thanks for your work.
  • Prisma Light
    Very biased
Clear bias and a misrepresentation of facts! The hosts are bigoted and racist. NPR needs to do better!

    Affirmative Action
Very thought provoking and challenged my beliefs about the role of affirmative action based on race in university education. Totally agree with the guest Jay Caspian Kang. Fantastic episode. Thank you.

This show has a lot of inaccuracies.

Please put in the episode description if it is a re run
Sometimes I can’t remember if I have listened to an episode before, and this would be useful to help remember, before I download and start listening to it.

    Prejudiced
The Palestine episode was completely one-sided

    Immersive sound design
Amazing work on the soundscape behind the episode on the Bronze Age- the story is also very compelling. I had to pause the episode as the sound design was blowing my mind : bows

    Amazing, Entertaining, and Thought-Provoking
This podcast has quickly become my favourite podcast to listen to. They do an incredible job covering major events in history and presenting the facts in an entertaining and thought-provoking manner. Rund and Ramtin strike the perfect balance between their own discussion and allowing the guests to really offer their view. Some incredible must-listen episodes: Palestine, Tenochtitlan, and the Bronze Age Collapse. Great podcast. Incredible work.

    What happened to this show👎🏻
Compare 2019 episodes until now, it’s vastly different. “Uncovering the past to understand the present” needs to be dropped as your catch line. I enjoyed the first couple of minority suppression pods during the election or BLM, but Throughline has gone down a rabbit hole that has changed the direction of this show completely. I appreciate all of the hard work this team has put in over the years which is why I will thank you for many wonderful episodes and will politely unsubscribe.

    Capitalism
That first episode on capitalism! Much more entertaining than I thought it would be, thank you!

    Too biased
I find many of the topics interesting and deserving of attention. However, the show is clearly biased to the left. This is not helpful in a polarized USA. I think the program would benefit from getting even spread of opinions from both left and right - especially since it’s an NPR show. I fell that on many of the episodes only half the story is told.
  • oh, Canada
    Hmmm..what about Hamas??
I love Throughline. It is in almost all cases thoughtful and well balanced. History class in one hour that informs and causes thought. The episode on the Palestinian Israeli conflict felt somewhat biased however. While not as clearly one sided as Ben Shapiro’s assessment, it felt like Israel’s continuous threat from terrorist activity was absent. Obviously this is a complicated situation that sane, peace loving people around the world, but especially in the Middle East want to end. Getting there will require a balanced review, concessions from both Israelis and Palestinians and support from the rest of the world. Maybe a follow up from the Zionist standpoint? I will continue to be a regular listener!
  • Jooloponoppto
From the outset clearly a biased take
Blatantly one-sided take on Palestine, very disappointing from an NPR show. Makes me wonder whether I can trust anything in any other episodes.
  • bf2019
    Palestine episode
I am a huge fan of Throughline. But, this was a one-sided episode of a complex situation. They should not have selected one narrow view. A more balanced view would be appropriate of a national public broadcaster.

    Unfortunate bias
I’m a long time listener and fan. The anti-Israel bias in your Palestine episode was jarring and disappointing, and has me questioning the information I’ve accepted from past episodes. I expect journalistic rigour and objectivity from NPR and this episode fell well short.

    SAY IF ITS A REPLAY
I love this show it is my favourite. But you guys replay episodes and don’t mention that they are replay’s or updates. “This is an older episode with some updates...” Kinda thing.

    Life changing
One of the best podcasts around. Everyone should listen to this podcast even if you aren’t American. I’ve learned so much and am very grateful for this podcasts existence. With love from so called Canada.

    America = World
Suffers from the belief that world-shaping events only happen in or involve the USA.

    Excellent!
This is an intriguing podcast and every episode has been as equally interesting as the last. I was trying to find a good history podcast and am so glad that this one came up.

    Wonderfully produced and researched
I love listening to these fresh young beautiful voices. Even with subjects I know a fair amount about, I still always learn some new factors and perspective. And even more, my kids will listen in voluntarily when it’s on. That says something about how captivating it is for sure.

    Makes me love history
Wonderfully researched and produced podcast! Love it!

    Well informed research
Well done on the Electoral College edition. Calling fellow humans 3/5ths of a person is a disgrace, doing for political expediency is utterly appalling. Foe examples of electoral governance tHe US would do well to look at countries like Australia with its independent Elecroral Commission. It works well when it’s depoliticized.

    Importance of education/history
I very much appreciate hearing about history. Just listened to the story of Billie Holiday and it opened my 🇨🇦eyes & ears.
  • JHR-514
    Meh
The topics are generally very interesting, but their content often overlaps with that found in other podcasts released around the same time, giving a feeling of repetitiveness. The hosts and/or editors have made the choice to include the hosts’ thoughtful-sounding “hmmm”’s during interviews, which I find annoying and distracting. The ominous background music is over-the-top and often mismatched with what’s being said. Worth listening to if you’re an infrequent listener of podcasts dealing with history, politics and/or race relations. Otherwise, it’s probably one to avoid.
  • Rekha.J
Totally bigoted views on hindus and India
Listened to two podcasts and both were filled with hatred for hindus. Seems like the creators have not done any research and just started talking whatever they have read on anti India newspapers. No idea what CAA is but giving views on it, no knowledge on Ram mandir, no knowledge on who were targeted on Delhi riots. Do some research before shamelessly demeaning someone.

    Great show

Great show, great stories, great team, just... great
Cannot say enough good things about this show. Knowing the history of our current times is so important and this team dives deep into the interesting and controversial, and shine some light on key elements of our shared history that give me pause at times. Education wrapped between entertainment and interest, best sandwich ever.

    The best!
I grew up through most of these events and even observed them from the front seat. The narrations are very accurate , breath taking and revealing. Thank you for such a high quality Journalism about our recent history.

    A MUST-LISTEN PODCAST
Amazing. Heartfelt. Empathetic. Incredible. Throughline is everything that is human in the world. It brings light to the “untold” side of every story told. I wait on the episode release every week. This podcast grounds me every week and reminds me of what is good, what is real, and what is bias. Thank you for putting in the work to release this incredible podcast.

    Love this pod
Thank you for making this podcast!! A fantastic historical look at events that have our world for a better understanding of the world around us. Who knew I liked history??? Keep it up!!

    Easily my favourite
I save the episodes for I can listen to them while driving my 9 and 10 year olds to hockey. They are hooked. Selected stories have tremendous relevance to today. Story craft is exceptional. Music is hauntingly complementary. Best of all the 2 hosts are wonderful with the best names in edutainment.

    Extraordinary, engaging history lessons
I’ve never heard history told in a way that is so deeply relevant to today. My teenagers are just as engaged as I am. We are hearing stories and voices that we never knew existed.

    Dropping science!
Amazing history lessons delivered in a really intelligent way. Like a 2019 public enemy album without the bomb squad beats. Thanks for doing what you’re doing. Very appreciated.

Please provide trigger warnings for the sake of survivors
Please provide trigger warnings for episodes that mention sexual violence for the sake of survivors dealing with PTSD. They should be afforded the courtesy of choosing whether or not to expose themselves to triggers that may provoke episodes of anxiety, or worse.

    Great, but....
This has become one of my favorites alongside Revisionist History, Against the Rules etc; the historical contexts of the discussions gives a perspective that has shifted some of my strongly held beliefs. It’s a great show! But, replaying older episodes from the SAME series, or playing episodes from ANOTHER podcast, not as bonus content, but as a regular weekly release is confusing. I get that the older episodes may have become more relevant based on recent happenings but we can always go back and listen to them whenever we want. And if it’s a case of not having any content scheduled for the week? Just don’t release anything for the sake of keeping up with a schedule! If there’s nothing new to talk about, I don’t see the point in replaying an entire episode I had listened to weeks before! I rarely leave reviews because I like to enjoy content as it’s creators intend it to be; my opinion doesn’t always matter. But in this instance, I just can’t wrap my head around this confusing tactic, especially when it’s happening more than once on the same podcast.
  • MattSandy
    Interesting but repetitive
Great stories but not worth a subscribe. Out of just a few episodes, so many are repeats or rehashes or edits from other podcasts, it just gets infuriating. What is new content is really fascinating and decently laid out, an enjoyable listen.
