Alex_24_20CornyI really tried but cannot understand how anyone could get past the corny dialogue and clunky acting
-
NoggintnogFirst season is awfulHeard I should give this a go because I loved The Lovecraft Investigations. I got half way through season 1 and couldn’t go on. The unnecessarily long theme song, ads and outro was too much and the presentation was just not my thing. Wouldn’t recommend off the back of TLI either!!
-
AnindorsetRepetitiveSo, I’ve stuck this out until the end of season 5. This story is just going round in circles, they’ve just changed location. I understand he’s making season 6. Not sure I can cope with more repetition. This story is begging for a conclusion, even if it’s just Nic being a nutter.
-
blimpochumpStarts well n trails offThe first series is really great, but somehow the arbitrariness of the ‘world-building’ that follows makes it hard to care about. It’s just one surreal collection of stuff after another, and I found myself unable to keep hold of the pieces. I’ll be stopping at end of series 3 just case it picks up. Also, the very long ponderous pauses in the narration grate in the later series.

Bex003MK - ugh!MK is so annoying and unfortunately you’ve brought her forward into The Last Movie too. She’s so short with Nic and rude. Wouldn’t kill her to be nice. The word Tanis is used so much that’s why I stopped listening for a while I saw a 5th season was realised so I thought it must have got better but it’s dragged out and still no ending in sight. I’ll not be listening to any more.

Linda McCartneyTanisAddictive, intriguing, intense alternative reality mystery tapping into numerous ideas you’re sure you’re familiar with but can’t quite place. Well crafted and acted if the pace is sometimes a little slow.

Penfold1992Good but…Story was good but a few things that started to grate on me were the annoying pauses that EVERYONE seemed to do ALL the time along with the relentless cryptic conversations going on that in reality never ever happen. The only other thing was I think the word Tanis is said more times than every single word in the entire English dictionary and eventually had me cringing every time I heard it. I’ve heard of plugging but when did someone have to hear the plug when actually listening to the very thing your plugging. Anyway, it’s still a good story, you just need to calm down on the above a bit, it’s unnecessary.
-
artsguruSeason 5I was so pleased to see Season 5 had been launched. Despite its lack of any resolution in storyline, it’s a constantly intriguing and compelling podcast.
-
ahhmmmmYesDefinitely a top show. Engaging and there is lots of it.
-
jamesbfgA fantastic listenEasily one of my favourite podcasts. Intriguing, well put together and hard to explain to anyone who hasn’t listened to it!
-
Miss Magpie 1985MissTanis is brilliant; immersive, intriguing, engaging, and shot through with mystery. It's exceptionally well put together, and the music and sound design are fantastic. I ration myself to an episode a week while I'm playing catch up, but I can't wait to listen to the whole thing all the way through at some point too. If you like Lost, The X-Files, or Fringe, you'll love this - make sure to check out The Black Tapes, The Last Movie, and Rabbits too. Keep looking.
-
Bluebell41GreatI am really enjoying this podcast. Look forward to each episode and listen to it whilst I do my stitching.

Jim no.13Loved it!!!This caught me right from the start!! I hope there is going to be a series 6!!
-
FionaArtConstant MusicConstant music, atmospheric background notes, synth, drum beats through at least 75% of speaking. If you want to hear drama and are sound sensitive, ASD or just want voice this isn’t for you (or me). I kept skipping ahead in episodes but it doesn’t seem to stop but amount comes and goes.
-
JuliBirdTurdOkayI’m trying really hard to like this but the voice acting is so bad. Hoping it improves since there are a few seasons.
-
VoltemandsFrustratingI’ll preface this with: I haven’t paid for this content. Though I understand my attention to the adverts is the monetisation. Really good writing in general. Sound track good. But blimey, it’s pacing has gone down hill since S3. The last two series and more should’ve been covered in S4. It’s just too stretched thin. I’m honestly unsure if I’ll return for S6. Doubtful.

NPro66TanisLove this podcast. Have waited such a long time for the new season. I try to leave them for a few weeks so I can listen to them back to back. Helps with the frustration of being left with the cliffhanger at the end of each episode. This podcast is well worth listening to. The link between real historical events and the overlaid fiction is really well done and keeps the suspense and mix of belief high. Would really encourage you to listen to this from the start to understand the whole concept. Hope this keeps getting produced, top quality podcast.

TheArchangel52One of the best out there!Simply incredible!
-
poliorketesGreat showThe scripting us generally gripping and the acting is superb. The mythos is more Lovecraft than Shea and Anton Wilson, could use a little more irony and self-awareness about conspiracism and culture. But still addictively entertaining.
-
SandyAndrewsNo? NoEnjoyable story, clearly very well researched. But once I noticed the constant rhetorical “No?” after anything said I found it really difficult to listen to.

StGutFreeLovecraft on ‘shrooms for Gen X HipstersNow in its fourth season, Tanis offers original narrative cleverly interweaved with real-life internet lore, corporate conspiracies, and ancient mythology to create an engaging and addictive listen. Protagonist Nic Silver explores the dark underbelly of Pacific Northwest, pursued and assisted by a network of morally ambiguous manic pixie dream girls who offer illuminating exposition and timely plot intervention. Together they take the listener on a journey behind the curtain of consensual reality to a place where their sanity may be in jeopardy. Clever use of well-chosen cultural references blurs the lines between fiction and reality and add texture and bite to the docu-drama structure. Cultural touchstones from Kurt Cobain to L Ron Hubbard to the Dungeon Masters (sic) Guide all figure. Together with the excellent production values and great voice acting they help make this a wildly compelling piece of neo-Lovecraft from Public Radio Alliance.

SteveKGWTAlmost a year, still no Season 5.Around last October 2019, i seen the trailer for season 5 that would be out on some paid platform first, but then apple podcasts shortly after. So i re-listened to the 4 seasons of Tanis in anticipation. Almost a year later in June 2020, still no Season 5. I have forgotten most of it and will not listen for a third time, goodbye.

hasbok87Too Many AdsUnbearable listening due to the frequency and length of the ads.
-
MotocageAddictive listeningAnybody that loves to submerge themselves in an exciting podcast, this is one to listen. Everything about this story makes you want to listen when you can. Roll on Series 5. I’m ready and waiting.

ThehfgjhufStarted wellThis is a good show with great production values, but the writing has gone downhill. Perhaps the writers ran short of ideas. By season three, they were dragging in all the usual woo tropes and it ended up feeling like some of the weaker “monster of the week” X-files episodes. They sometimes use the term “Lovecraftian” but it seems to have escaped their notice that he created a largely unique mythos: he wouldn’t have dragged in virtually everything that Brian Dunning has debunked such as Nicola Tesla, Black-eyed Kids, Rasputin, Scientology... sorry, but if a show is going to bombard its listeners with endless advertising breaks, it needs better writing than this.
-
rookytheoddGood very goodI thoroughly enjoy the series these producers put out tbh and i dont mind the ads being that the podcast is free so they should make money somehow. Im glad that I'm able to listen to a very detailed and well produced story and in turn they are able yo make a profit of it. 🤷🏿♂️IMO leave a bad review if you think the story is bad not because of the ads. The podcast is free so...
-
ScottPlsWay too many addsIt’s a decent show but the ads are overkill. 3-4 times every podcast and about 2:30mins each? Takes you right out of the experience when something is happening and they start suddenly talking about socks or building websites.
-
CeeepySuch a great podcast!Truly an enjoyable and inventive podcast- you won’t be disappointed!
-
arabbleIt WAS great...I really enjoyed Tanis, Rabbits and The Black Tapes but... I genuinely want to say they need to stop after 2-3 seasons. They are amazing stories and are exciting to listen to... but that’s just it, the excitement and originality leaves you past this. They are highly talented at storytelling but should maybe do more of a couple of seasons refresh.
-
RB1001Compulsive listeningI got into Tanis through being hooked on Rabbits, from the same team. It took a couple of episodes to get into, but it was way worth it. Totally compulsive listening. A great story, really well done. I don’t go to the supporting website, so can’t comment on how well that complements it - but the audio is brilliant!
-
bryknitsI repeat listen to thisGreat podcast.
-
ally224488Stamps.comThe first couple of seasons were good, it’s now like they don’t know where to go with it and the story hasn’t moved on for a while. The real problem is the constant begging for money and the unbearable advertising. All that’s in my head at the end of an episode is stamps.com, I think I’ll give it a miss from now on.
-
yusufp123Overrated.Good storyline, but always too little meat in each episode. Plot usually gets good near the end of reach episode, but blueballed by two-week cliffhangers. They really need to put a 'previously recap' at the beginning of each episode - end up forgetting a lot of the names.
-
AllimaccccMsLoved The Black Tapes and this is also really good!
-
TerryHeth11GreatFrom Black Tapes to Rabbits to here. Always worth listening to and following
-
Mustard58Throwing my opinion in.....I guess reviews are great for development. This podcast was recommended by another podcast. After a few episodes in, the constant begging for support and recognition is unbearable. Yes we know it costs Yes we know you fund this yourselves, but constantly asking for support is a joke. Just ask once that’s all. Other podcasts don’t ask as much as you. And other podcasts are longer than 43 mins Come on.
-
quiet snowfallAn absolute gemLOVE this labyrinthine, intricate, atmospheric podcast, it's so compelling for anyone who loves complex mysterious stories that weave in contemporary mysteries and aspects of folklore to a supernatural landscape. There's aspects here that remind me of some of my favourite 'wierd' fiction writing like Jeff VanDerMeer's Southern Reach Trilogy, and Mark Danielewski's House of Leaves. I'm so hooked!
-
KathytreAmazing and addictive! This is absolutely the best mystery, story podcast. I was completely hooked when I listened to the first one last year. I then binge listened to all the rest to catch up. Enter the strange world of Tanis and you’ll have to keep listening, it’s fabulous!
-
Danny steVery compelling listening!Enjoying this series very much, started a little over 5 days ago and haven't stopped listening! Good work!
-
Dr PimpingtonOh dearThe first season was fun. It falls apart pretty swiftly afterwards however.
-
Lizzi PowerCaptivating and compellingTANIS captured my imagination and took me on an amazing adventure. The series creates a whole other world to discover and explore in your minds eye. I love this podcast and am patiently waiting for Nic Silver to bring me Series 4 😱
-
Cider sparrowFirst series fantasticJust finished the first series and loved it. Every episode left me wanting to hear more.
-
Mich3ghHookedThis is another great podcast and can’t wait for more.

Bela Guttman's curseAmazingWonderful podcast.
-
ClareboobCreepily original podcastI listen to this while out on my bike it transports me so hours go past in a flash. If you love creepy podcasts a la the black tapes and archive 81 then you will love Tanis.
-
DaturamuraWelcome to TanisMysterious, intriguing, addictive and blurring the lines of reality and fantasy. Technology, the paranormal, occult, science, science fiction, conspiracy theories, urban legends, all woven into the story seamlessly and deliciously. You'll chuckle, you'll shiver, you'll listen again and find something new.
-
Barbara suffolkFantastic podcastI’ve just started at season 1 and I’m hooked, really creepy and yet interesting. I can’t wait to hear the rest.
-
Gerald= )AmazingTruly amazing
-
MortwinklesGetting tediousThis started out with a lot of promise but the dream therapy sessions in recent episodes are so dull and the voice acting is just plain bad. "Nick?........yes, Nick?.........yes" seems to be all that happens in the dream sessions. It feels like Nick is becoming a bit too self indulgent.

clive3539Tales of the UnexpectedI want to believe ... TANIS is the riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma. It is an X-File involving Charles Manson, Jack the Ripper, the Elevator Game and Men in Black. The Cigarette Smoking Man will soon appear. You get the idea. TANIS is rich in lore using astonishing legends to create an arcane conspiracy that will appeal to anyone who enjoys the unexplained. Episodes are a nice length at 30-40 mins. I've finished the first season and I'm ready to follow the adventures of Nic and MK in the next 2 seasons. What have you got to lose? It's free. Give it try. If you read this review then you won't be disappointed. The truth is out there ...
